WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization)

The World Intellectual Property Organization is important to the economy development, to the society and to the cultures of all countries. The WIPO is the responsible agency to promote the effective use and protection of the Intellectual Property in the world.

The main objectives of the WIPO are:

• To develop international agreements about Intellectual Property;

PCT (Patent Corporation Treaty)

An agreement to facilitate the request of the patents registration abroad extending the time to decide about the countries acceptance for the companies’ interest.

The Madrid Protocol

Brazil is not part of the agreement but is working to be added to the Protocol to facilitate the trademark requests on a national level to all Brazilian companies.

Technological Transfer

When the plan is to use the technology of another company, no matter if it’s Brazilian or not, the PAP finalize this process with a great success including the technology identification, the contracts process until the registration at the INPI (Instituto Nacional de Propriedade Intelectual - Brasil) which allows the company to send values abroad. The advisory process includes a complete and detailed analysis of the buy and sell contract that needs to be in accordance with the registration’s rules and laws. The beaurocratic process at the INPI is also under our responsibility so in that way your legal team is free to act on the specifics of your business.

Section and Transfer (LUM’s contract – License for the use of a trademark) ROYALTIES

The LUM’s contract is done to register at the INPI when the client is resigning or licensing the trademark to another company in Brazil or abroad; no matter if it’s coming from the same country or a different one; to pay the royalties, to set the license’s time for the trademark’s use, for renovation, for marketing, for the trademark’s profile and to set each part’s obligation.
